It is based on a stitch pattern someone posted to the list last year. I used to to make a scarf for a Christmas gift which was very well received. Easy scarf pattern Approximately 8 inches wide, 60 inches long. 500 yards worsted weight wool, size 8 needles. Cast on 50 stitches. Slip first stitch of row, then K1, K1, P1 across. Knit until yarn runs out, bind off. Looks good in a vareigated (I used Mountain Colors 50/50 alpaca/wool) or, for a very basic scarf, in a solid. Would also work in mohair, adjusting the needles and stitches cast on according to the yarn. Would also be the same for a finer yarn. Also could adjust the stitch count for a wider or narrower scarf.
