Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1996 18:41:02 -0600 From: Joan Fernbach To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: 1 Strand Woolease socks for kids Here is the pattern I adapted to my 6 year old son - about boy's size 1 shoe, 1 strand of Woolease, size 6 dp needles Cast on 32 stitches (8-16-8), join and knit in K2P2 rib for 1-1/2 inches. Then work in stockinette until ankle portion measures 4-1/2 inches from start of ribbing (or desired length). Heel flap: knit next needles, to bring you to beginning of needle with 16 stitches on it. Work back and forth on these 16 stitches, slipping the fist stitch of each row purlwise and doing K1P1 for the rest of the row, for 12 rows. Turn heel - Sl 1, k9, , skp, turn Sl 1, p 4, p2 tog, tur sl 1, k4, skp, turn Repeat last 2 rows until all stitches are worked, then work 1 row. Pick up 8 stitches on left side, work next needle, pick up 8 stitches on right side and k 3 stitches from heel needles on this needle. K 1 row around Decrease row : K to whith 3 sts of end of 1st needle, skp, k1, work next needle, on last needle K1, k2tog, k remaining sts. Repeat these two rows until 32 stitches remain. continue foot for about 6 inches or until 1-1/2" from desired length. Knit next needle to bring you to top of foot. Toe: Decrease row: k1, k2tog, knit to last three stitches on this needle, skp, k1, k1, k2tog, knit to last three stitches on next needle, skp, k1. Knit 2 rows even. Repeat these 2 rows until 12 stitches remain, weave together. This pattern was adapted from the Lacey WoolEase socks posted as a holiday gift in September.
