Just scanned my little saved bits for "sock" and found it. There's also an adult version from the toe up in the early 800's of the digests but the heel wasn't written out (short rows). << I scaled down the [Joan's] WoolEase Socks after my six year old begged for socks too, and they work out perfectly. Here are my changes: Cast on 26 stitches - 9-8-9 Work in rib for 8 rows work in stockinette for 4-1/2 inches use 12 stitches for heel flap, work until 6 chain loops on edge turn heel by sl1, p8, p2tog, p2, turn, etc pick up 6 stitches on each flap edge decrease heel gusset until 26 stitches remain and work 6 inches - about `1-1/2 inches short of wanted length, decrease toe until 14 stitches remain and weave together. I thought the double yarn would be too thick in such a small size, but he loves them - uses them for sleeping and slippers around the house. I've been making the socks for all the kids with wild stipes of all colors - they love them because they're "funky", and I like the instant gratification of getting to use all my colors. >> ----- >From Sylvia in Montana, where it is above zero today and the ice crystals on the edge of the creek are three inches long. --- This pattern downloaded from Wool Works: the online knitting compendium http://www.woolworks.org/
