I picked Feather and Fan (apparantly also known as Old Shale) as it wasn't too holey and has only a four row repeat with three of the rows being knit or purl!! Feather and Fan Shawl Feather and fan/old shale shawl pattern multiples of 18+2 Row 1: knit Row 2: purl Row 3: k1, *k 2 tog 3 times, yarn over knit one 6 times, k 2 tog 3 times* Repeat from *. k1. (Note: the actual pattern is 6 yarn overs and 6 knit 2 tog) Row4: knit Yarn: one strand mohair and one strand metallic mixing thread (or whatever you want!) Needles: 10.5 Addi turbos (or any size you want) For a width of about 20": Cast on 64 stitches. Put a marker 4 stitches in from either end. Knit every row (garter stitch) these beginning/ending stitches. Now, this will be only on Row 2 that you need to think about it as the other three rows are knit! Do 5 rows of knit (garter stitch) for the bottom border then start on the pattern after the marker. There will be 3 repeats of the pattern with 64 stitches. Work until the shawl is as long as you want (wrist to wrist is the suggested length). Finish off with 5 rows of knit (garter stitch). ------------------------------------------------ Sara Sharpe Clearwater, Florida dasharpe@gte.net --------------------------------------------------- Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultry? ------------------------------------------------- --- This pattern downloaded from Wool Works: the online knitting compendium http://www.woolworks.org/
