Cast on 4 sts. Row 1: K across Row 2: K 2, yo, k to end of row. Repeat row 2 until there are 43 sts on the needle. Next Dec Row: K1 k 2 tog, yo , k2 tog, k to end. Continue working dec row until only 4 sts remain. Last row: K across 4 sts, bind off. Make as many squares as you desire depending on the size of blanket you want. For a baby blanket I make 12 squares in a 3X4 rectangle. Finishing: Sew sqaures together. Lacing: With contrasting color, use double strand. Chain a piece long enough to go around the square with a few extra stitches left over. Go back over the chain with a row of double crocket. Weave lacing through eyettes at edge of square. Tucking extra stitches in on the wrong side. Edging: Rnd 1: With contrasting color sc aound the edge. Working 1 sc between each ridge of knitting, 3 sc in joining between syares and 3 sc at each corner. Rnd 2: Work crab (reverse sc-sts are worked from left to right) around, working 2 sts in each corner sc. Fasten off. Flowers (optional) 1 for every corner at a joining of 4 squares. Ch 6, join with sl st to form ring. Rnd1: CH5, dc in ring, ch 2) 5 times, join with sl st in ch-3 of begininngin ch-5. Rnd 2: In next ch-2 lp (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) 6 times, join with sl st in forst sc, Fasten off. Sew flowers at each joining. Happy knitting to all. I hope you enjoy the pattern as much as I do.
