TO be totally honest with you, I was going to post some newer original things in celebration of the knitlist move, but my computer died a HUGE death (go make backups tonight...right now...flee run go do it...) and i haven't been able to access anything. ICOSH: Booties and socks.... ALl these patterns are either my original things or in the public domain (as I understand it...more than 75 years old)...and where I can, they are credited. Feel free to enjoy and distribute if you like... (I suppose that is a bit of egoism, assuming that you LIKE what I 'unvented') (With deeply bowed head in respect to the mother of all, EZ :) [Editor's note: I've split these patterns out into different files, leaving the headers and footers intact.] [...] Cable Stitch Socks (finished sz 6") (original) Materials: 1 oz baby/fingering wt yarn #2 US (2 3/4 mm) dpns CO 18 sts on each of 2 needles and 12 sts on 3rd needle (48 sts), join, being careful not to twist sts. Sl 1 sts from each side of instep (top) onto heel needle, then K the 28 heel sts onto 2 needles. Slip the 20 instep sts onto one needle, and continuing the cable pattern (three total cables and 2 P sts each side) work even for 3 1/2" or desired length-allowing 1 3/4" to finish toe. Toe: Sl 2 sts from each side onto instep needle (24 sts on 2nd needle, 12 sts on 1st and 3rd needle). K1 row ending at center of sole (1st needle). K to last 3 sts, S1, K1 psso, K1. [...] Sorry this is so long...if anyone wants me to post these privately, let me know...or I could continue to deluge you guys with freebies :) Let me know. Also, any feedback or questions on my (admittedly) vague instructions is encouraged (nay, solicited). I certainly would not say that any of the above 'original' patterns is sufficiently complex that they haven't been 'unvented' many many times...enjoy...post freely...and if i am wrong about the copyright thing, omit the last pattern if you repost these anywhere.
