The pattern calls for size 6.0 mm needles, but I find this is too loose, and stretches way out of shape, so I end up using a 4.5 mm. Also, I make dish scrubbers, as opposed to dish rags, and only use mine to scrub the dishes and not wipe the counter, so again, modify to your requirements, because these are knit for ME, so there. 1 ball of knit worsted weight cotton (Bernat Handicrafters Cotton or Sugar and Cream) 50 gm size size 4.5 mm needles Cast on 4 sts. Knit one row. Row 2: K2, yo, knit to the end of the row. Repeat row 2 until there are 40 sts (for dish scrubber) or 50 sts (for face cloth). Next row: K1, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog, knit to the end of the row. Continue decreasing until 4 sts left. Cast off. This looks very nice in varigated cotton since there is no pattern other than around the edge. Once you have conquered this pattern, there are mucho others out there, including my own reversed octagonal face cloth, one I modified from Piecework. The only trouble is, I have to re-type that one, but I will, nag nag nag. The cotton yarn is also good for baby bibs. You could use the above pattern and attach I-cords to two corners for ties.
