The usual recipe works pretty well, even for babies, the only difference is the length... My usual recipe is to figure out gauge for something stockinette that'll fit around the foot, knit that in a rib for the ankle and above, then use half of the stitches to make a heel flap (about as deep as a quarter of your total width), turn the heel, knit up the edges of the flap and the first half of the original stitches and then decrease every other row until they're back at the original number and then see if it's toe shaping time for a baby sock.
