In going through them the other day looking for something to make I came across a pattern that was in her handwriting with a note saying whom she had copied the pattern from. In reading through the pattern I realized it was for a beautiful shawl which I remember her having and letting me use when playing dress up when I was a child (I am now 39). Work until 7 sts remain (working the last rows in reverse stockinette st when there are not from right side by k3 tog tbl, k1, k3 tog, turn, p3 tog and fasten off. Finishing: From right side, beg at right corner of cast on row, work 1 row sc around shawl, working 3 sc in corner, dec at point and spacing sts to keep edge flat. Join with sl st to first sc, turn. Work second sc row along sides only. Fasten off block lightly. Fringe: Wrap yarn around a 9-inch cardboard. Cut yarn at 1 end. Fold 2 strands in half, insert hook from wrong side in first sc on side edge, draw double fold thru, draw cut ends that fold. Knot fringe in every sc on side edges. Trim evenly. Hope you enjoy this.
