Formed in 1992, the Des Moines Knitting Guild's motto is "to encourage and support the craft of handknitting." We are a member of The Knitting Guild of America (TKGA). Our members are of all ages and skills.

Monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month (except July) at the Urbandale Library. Monthly programs provide member opportunities to expand their knowledge and foster friendships. The DMKG supports the Iowa State Fair by encouraging members to participate and offers two prizes to award winners. We also host annual workshops with nationally-known knitters like Carol Anderson, Arnhild, and in February of 2007 we will be proud to welcome Candace Eisner Strick.

We encourage the support of knitted charity items for: Broadlawns Hospital--baby items and winter togs for all ages; Hispanic Ministries - winter togs for all ages; mittens for local school children. Past efforts have also included the Festival of Trees and chemo caps for cancer patients. Dues are $12 per year; fiscal year runs from July-June. The DMKG became a not-for-profit corporation in 2003. Come join us!!

Central Iowa Knitters Inc., an affiliate of TKGA (The Knitting Guild Association), is the fastest growing "guild" in Iowa and the largest in central Iowa.
We are a group of fun-loving and forward-thinking knitters of all skills and ages.
CIK meets in the Courtyard Hall room at Valley Church, 4343 Fuller Road, in West Des Moines from 7-9 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month except July.
The club offers monthly lectures and workshops for all experience levels, and encourages members to use those skills for both personal and charitable knitting. CIK also hosts an annual yarn sale, Christmas Charity Tea, Fall Knitting Retreat, Winter Knitting Retreat and Knit It Out of the Park (a communitywide outing to an Iowa Cubs baseball game, held every July). Plus, CIK offers various small-group Knit Togethers that meet throughout central Iowa in bookstores, yarn shops, churches and homes.
Member benefits include the monthly programs, a subscription to our professionally produced monthly newsletter, e-mail alerts about the area's lastest-breaking knitting news and early registration for events, among many other things.
We are a very welcoming group! Come knit with us!
